Call the Candidate!
Smith Campaign Demonstrates his Commitment to 100% Citizen Access to City Government
Portland OR, April 21, 2008 – This week Portland City Council candidate Chris Smith reaffirms his long-time support for accessible city government by encouraging citizens to call his campaign and question the candidate directly.
“When I announced my run for office I indicated that I was looking forward to a race where we can talk to voters and run a campaign about ideas,” said Smith, a long-time citizen activist in the city. “Our campaign is a successful, working example of how Voter Owned Elections empower all Portland citizens by encouraging honesty, transparency and accessibility on the part of their candidates. In that spirit, I invite all citizens to start a dialogue with me but asking me tough questions about my plans for our great city.”
Citizens are invited to call the Smith campaign with their questions at 503-928-6660. Smith has committed to returning all citizen calls with his answers to their questions in a prompt manner. In addition, citizens can reach the campaign through the “contact us” feature on the campaign website, www.citizensmith.us. Citizens are encouraged to submit questions or concerns online, which will also be answered by the candidate.
“As a citizen activist in Portland for the past fifteen years, I know how important it is for elected officials to work closely with citizens to address their concerns and solicit their good ideas,” said Smith. “I want people to know that I am 100% accessible and happy to engage in discussions about how to best move our city forward. When elected, I will always have an open door and will work to promote conversations with any and all citizens.”
